First, thank you all for your prayers for my recovery. As many of you know, I had to go to the hospital with a heart issue, which ultimately led to heart surgery. I am home resting now. Yet, there is no doubt in my mind that prayer from so many of you was the difference-maker. What our enemy had meant for destruction, God turned to victory. I Praise Him completely and totally. We are believing our trip overseas will not be delayed.

I also want to give a special thanks to two anonymous donors whom God used at a time of extreme need. As most of you know, the Cubit Foundation has a 15-acre farm in the Nile Delta region of northern Egypt. This farm helps feed more than 1,500 widows and more than 1,000 orphans each month. This farm is watered by irrigation.

The farm produces wheat, corn, eggplant, squash, beans, onions, garlic, grapes, okra, and we buy items like meat, milk, cooking oil, sugar, tea, salt, pepper, and rice. In addition, we have another 3 acres with 1,000 mango trees and date palms, whose fruit we sell at the market to buy school supplies, shoes, and clothes for our widows’ children and our orphans. This tract of land was watered by a well located on the property. It also serves as a backup to our irrigation system in case it breaks down.

Two months ago, at the height of our mango harvest season, a strong earthquake in northern Egypt caused extensive damage. That earthquake destroyed our well, leaving us without water for our orchards and without a backup for the farm; it also destroyed some of the irrigation plumbing.

In the Egyptian heat, crops can dry up and die quickly without water. So, we were in desperate shape. We got several estimates; the lowest was $18,000. At that time, we did not have the funds. So, we were facing a major catastrophe for our widows and orphans. We sent out the prayer requests, confident that God indeed had it under His control. Within four weeks, God answered.

A friend of ours from Luxor, a city located 400 miles south of us, heard about our situation. He “just happened to own a water well digging business.” He told us that he would dig a new well for $17,000, which included everything. The only problem: no funds. However, God is still God, and He moves on the hearts of His people. A very good and faithful anonymous friend of Cubit called me and said he wanted to pay the full amount. So, praise God for His faithfulness and a special thank you to this servant of the Lord.

This year has been very trying for Cubit financially, with funds dropping to low levels on a couple of occasions, wherein we thought that we might have to reduce the number of widows we were supporting or cut the amount of support we give to the churches and persecuted believers. But God is God, and He cares. In the midst of this crisis, a doctor friend of Cubit anonymously gave a gift that allowed us to “catch up” with our widows and obligations. So, praise God for our doctor’s faithfulness and love for this ministry.

Some of you have asked about the war in Iran and whether Egypt will be brought into the conflict. I am in regular contact with officials over there, and this is how they feel about the situation. Although both Iran and Egypt are Islamic countries, they disagree on everything and are definitely not allies. In fact, Egypt has been victimized by Iranian missiles at least four times; all in the Sinai desert. This has caused Egypt to align with America and American interests in seeking ways to bring the conflict to an end. As such, although tourism has been greatly reduced, there is not a travel ban on visitors. Therefore, we continue to minister to the widows, orphans, churches, and persecuted believers as God has directed, and will continue to do so as He leads. Thank you all for your support, encouragement, and prayers. It doesn’t matter if the gift is large or small; we appreciate everyone who gives what you can. God sees our heart!

Brad has been traveling for years in different countries, building, helping and feeding widows and orphans. If you haven’t seen Brad’s recent video on YouTube and on our website about the new carpentry school, it would be good to watch; it will bless your heart. This school is at Big Heart Orphanage in Reynos, Mexico. The school will train kids to do something with their lives; they will have a trade when they get out of school instead of going on the streets and getting into drugs.

The school was started several years ago. But the government delayed the building. Money was also a concern; all the tools and supplies for each student were expensive. But Brad kept going down to Big Hope Orphanage many times to build what he could. Finally, the government opened the doors so they could finish the school. But the money wasn’t there. Out of the blue, someone gave Brad the funds for the entire school, plus tools and supplies to finish it.

What a miracle for Big Heart and all the kids at this school.

Brad can’t be in Mexico full time because he has a carpentry business, but we know God will supply teachers and everything they need. If you know Brad, he will not stop till it is up and running. Brad will go every time he can. God will work it all out for His glory. God knows each one of those kids that need the Lord and need a trade. We know God has them in a good environment to make Jesus their Savior. I am sure those boys and girls will come back one day to help Big Heart and teach at the school or the carpentry school. We know many of you have given to this school in the past, and we thank you!!! God has blessed The Cubit Foundation with donors who love us and help us.

We have had an exciting summer, with two grandsons leaving for college. Cidney will attend Georgia College, and Cyrus will attend Lake Tahoe College. So proud of them, but Grammie will be praying. Ron Jr., Cheri and Cyrus were on vacation in Peru this summer. Ron Jr and Cheri will be headed back to teaching soon. I know it will be a busy time for them as they get Cyrus to college and start school. Ron Jr wants to go back to Egypt when he has a break in school.  He is keeping in touch with us about the farm. Thank you, Ron, for your help. We hope to see them during the holidays.

I remember when we had an empty nest at home. Brad had just gone to college at Kilgore, TX, and Ronnie was in Rome, GA, at college. Every parent goes through this lonely time. We went back and forth to Albania for 5 years during that time, so it took the edge off not seeing them. Every day I thank God for my family and pray for them. I put the whole armor of God over them and ask for their protection. Ephesians 6:10-18

God is faithful! We never forget you in our prayers!
